The Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) sets forth transportation policy and investment strategies for Fayette and Jessamine County, the two-county focus area of the plan. The plan establishes goals, strategies, projects and programs for future transportation funding. The MTP outlines a multi-modal approach to transportation investment with a goal to improve safety and mobility for motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, transit users and freight providers. The MTP is updated every 5 years and covers a 26 year planning period. The MPO conducted a major update of the MTP in 2014.

2040 MTP Amendments:
DRAFT MTP Amendment #3
The MPO is currently holding a 15-day public review period (ending on August 31) for Amendment #1 to the TIP and Amendment #3 to the MTP. The purpose of the amendment is to adjust the TIP to reflect the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) committing federal Surface Transportation Program (STP) funds towards the design phase of the Liberty Road (KY 1927) widening project – Graftons Mill Lane to New Circle Road and improvement of intersection with New Circle Road (see TIP Table 2; page 28). The Amendment also updates the cost estimates for future phases of the project (see TIP Table 4; page 33). Amendments to the TIP are incorporated into the MTP; thus, this action is also referred to “Amendment #3” of the MTP.
Written comments on the Amendment may be submitted to the MPO at LFUCG Division of Planning, 101 East Vine Street, Ste 700, Lexington, KY 40507. They may also be submitted digitally to email@example.com (SUBJECT: TIP amendment #1 / MTP amendment #3).
If you are a person with a disability and require assistance to participate in the review process (large print, audio material) or if you would like a translated copy in another language please contact Kenzie Gleason at 859-258-3605 or at the email address above.
The purpose of Amendment # 2 is to adjust the 2040 MTP to reconcile project information with the update of the FY 2017 – 2020 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The TIP is the short-range element to the longer-range MTP and these two documents need to reflect similar project and program priorities.
The purpose of Amendment #1 was to adjust the MTP to reconcile project information with the FY 2013-2016 Transportation Improvement Program which has since been updated to the FY 2017-2020 TIP. Amendment #2 superseded Amendment #1. Amendment # 1 is provided for informational purposes only.
