The emergence of connectivity and automation in transportation, combined with big data analytics and the internet of things, is advancing us toward ubiquitous access to safer, more efficient, and sustainable travel for everyone. As society accelerates toward these technological breakthroughs and revolutionizes the ways in which people travel, new accessibility features will be developed. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Accessible Transportation Technologies Research Initiative, or ATTRI is investing in a transportation ecosystem in which all of our vehicles, road infrastructure, and even pedestrians are connected, and all travelers, no matter their disability, can benefit from this future world.
