Forward-Thinking Solutions for Managing Our Region’s Growth and Transportation Needs.

The Lexington Area MPO is a federally mandated planning organization that tracks population and transportation trends in Fayette and Jessamine County to develop mobility solutions for a more prosperous and sustainable region.

Population

Regional area population is expected to increase 40% by 2045 to 500,000. We must plan now to meet the future needs of our community.

Traffic

Addressing congestion requires regional solutions. Over 250,000 commuters currently travel in and out of our community. Simply building more roads to accommodate increasing traffic congestion is not a sustainable solution.

Safety

We focus on reducing the number of deaths and injuries on our roadways.
