Public Notification of Amendment to the Lexington Area MPO’s Transportation Improvement Program.

The Lexington Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is conducting a 15-day public review period for Amendment 1 to the MPO’s FY 2021 – FY 2024 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

The Amendment is being completed at the request of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to commit state transportation funds to the Nicholasville Road (US 27) Access Management Project (Section 1) from Man O’ War Blvd in Fayette County to 1000’ south of Brannon Road in Jessamine County.

The project is an outcome of the US 27 Access Management Plan that was completed in 2013. The project is also identified in the MPO’s long-range 2045 Metropolitan Transportation Plan with goals of improving safety, traffic flow and multimodal facilities.

The Amendment commits $1,000,000 in state funding to advance the design phase of the project. The design phase, which will occur at a later time, will include opportunities for the public to review project details and to comment on various design aspects of the project.

Public comment on Amendment 1 to the Transportation Improvement Program will be accepted from July 23, 2021 through August 7, 2021.

The TIP is a list of transportation programs and projects that transportation funds will be allocated to during the next four years. Projects that seek the use of federal transportation funds or are considered by the MPO to be regionally significant are required to be included in the TIP.
